BW Container Systems - Poised for Global Growth

Earlier this year Pete Carlson, President of BW Container Systems announced the promotion of two industry veterans to lead the entirety of its Global commercial activities. Eric Collier was named Vice President of Sales - Americas, and Scott Smith was named Vice President of Sales - Europe, Middle East, Asia Pacific and Africa.

Eric has served as Director of Strategic Sales - North America since joining BW Container Systems in 2015. Under his leadership, BW Container Systems’ market share in the food, wine & spirits, home & personal care, pet food, and chemical industries has grown exponentially. Eric is a 15-year packaging industry veteran, and prior to joining BW Container Systems, he led sales, project and application teams at Alvey/Intelligrated. He has a strong technical expertise in palletization, robotics, and end-of-line system solutions, all of which have enabled him to bring great value to our business and to our clients. Eric will lead all sales team activities in the United States, Canada, Latin and South America, including key accounts, regional sales executives, project management and contract administration.

Scott Smith has spent more than 20 years in the Packaging Industry. He started his career with Coca-Cola, and subsequently spent 15 years with Hartness, now an ITW company. There he developed end-of-line expertise in the food, dairy, wine & spirits, beer and soft drink industries. Eventually he would serve in a variety of commercial leadership roles, including Vice President, Global Sales & Marketing. In this new role, Smith will add leadership for sales teams in Europe, Middle East, Asia Pacific & Africa to his current responsibilities of leading the Global Marketing and Business Development teams as he has since joining BW Container Systems in 2014.  

Scott and Eric have been steadfast and methodical in orchestrating their leadership teams by selecting and/or promoting a team of industry veterans to lead the company’s growth:

Sean Bailey adds Director of Sales for the UK market to his current role.  Sean’s path to commercial leadership has included serving as IT Director for BW Container Systems and leading BW Container Systems business development and marketing efforts in EMEA, a role he in which he will continue. Sean has an affinity for solutions selling and has championed the BW Container Systems’ robotic automation initiative in the UK. 

Nick Birkin, veteran of the Packaging Industry, has been named Director of Key Accounts, EMEA and has a long track record of packaging solutions success with several of the world’s largest consumer packaged goods companies including Coca-Cola and AB Inbev.  Nick will focus his efforts on some of these type of key accounts, but he will also work to grow BW Container Systems business in the distillery, soft drink and brewery business throughout EMEA. Nick also leads BW Container Systems’ changepart and “As-is” (used equipment) business.

Paul Finch joins BW Container Systems as Director of Regional Sales, EMEA.  Paul joins the company from the Bosch Packaging Technology where he has served Export Sales Manager since 2006, headquartered in Bristol, England. In that role, he has led export sales in Europe, Southeast Asia and China with global expertise for the export of Kliklok packaging technology, a division of Bosch. Paul brings his decades of relationships with many of the world’s most respected consumer packaged goods companies, including Nestle and Arnott’s.

Mike Barnett joins BW Container Systems from Yaskawa and will serve as the sales executive for the entirety of the UK market.  Mike is a respected industry veteran with extensive experience in many market segments of the packaging industry including automotive, food, pharmaceuticals and plastics and BW Container Systems will leverage his experience in the robotic automation. Mike has held various commercial roles at both KUKA and Yaskawa and has a deep understanding of the application of robotic technology to the automation process.

Jim Krapes has been name Director of Sales, Americas where he will use his unique skill set to support commercial efforts for both sales teams in the Americas.  Jim has spent 29 years at BW Container Systems in several senior operational and commercial roles and joined Barry-Wehmiller as part of the Goldco acquisition. During his time with the company he served as Business Unit Director of the Loveland manufacturing facility, was instrumental in the founding the Case Palletizing & Robotics (CPR) program which was the genesis of BW Container Systems’ robotic automation platform and was Director of Business Development. Jim has been instrumental in our organic growth and we are excited to see that continue as he leads these teams.

Bill Natsch, a 20-year packaging industry veteran, has been promoted by Director of Regional Sales for North America.  Bill has served as Midwest Regional Sales Executive since joining BW Container Systems in 2014.  Prior to joining BW Container Systems, he led Robotics and Integration at Intelligrated and Operations at Bastian Material Handling and VanPack. He has strong technical expertise in palletization, robotics, and end-of-line system solutions, all of which have enabled him to bring great value to our business.

Danny Fansher has joined BW Container Systems as the Southeast Regional Sales Executive.  Danny earned a BA degree from the University of South Carolina and brings an extensive career in design, applications, key account management, and field service management while working with Hartness.

Tom Hosack joins BW Container Systems as the Southcentral Regional Sales Executive.  BW Container Systems will leverage Tom’s expertise of end-of-line palletizing solutions which he gained during his 40-year career with Alvey, FKIL, Intelligrated, Honeywell in contract engineering, customer service, agent/dealer support and field sales.

These additions and changes within the current structure continue to show the growth of BW Container Systems as an Industry Leader.
